D-Day are a four-piece alternative band from Galway. Made up of brothers, Darragh (lead vocals, guitar) and Keith Whyte (drums), alongside Chris Breslin (bass, backing vocals) and Cathal Sweeney (guitar, backing vocals), the band draw influence from Kings of Leon, U2 and The Killers.

Their debut single ‘Misunderstood’- which was mixed by Grammy and Juno-nominated sound engineer, Mike Fraser (Franz Ferdinand, Enter Shikari and Biffy Clyro) and mastered by Grammy Award winning engineer, Adam Ayan- was launched on October 7th 2016 to critical acclaim, and went on to be included on Pete Holidai’s ‘Scene Not Heard’: a compilation album featuring the best of Irish music.

Transforming the traditional tones of the ukulele and infusing it with the energy of British rock…

It has taken over 6 years to develop a concept first thought of under a palm tree whilst watching a hut burn down. Sitting off the coast of Panama on tropical islands known as San Blas, this notion inspired a journey that would weave through 3 different continents.

Basing themselves in a garage on the outskirts of Hertfordshire and having now released their debut EP ‘Draw, Win, or Lose’, this eclectic group attempts to bring something new to the world of alternative rock.

When young St Albans based singer/songwriter Hope sings her songs, you hear a wealth of life experience far beyond her years.

Accumulating over 15 million hits and 65k subscribers on her Youtube channel, Hope’s voice is heard by people all over the world and her songs pull on your heart strings Her acoustic cover of Dusty Springfield’s ‘I Only Want To Be With You’ was used for the 2016 Dog’s Trust #SpecialSomeone ad campaign, aired on prime time ITV throughout the year.

Hope’s latest release soothes you to the soul. Recorded fully live at Jacket Records studio in Hertfordshire. The full band and string arrangement sweep you off your feet, and the weight just drops off your shoulders.

PHOENIX ONEILL
PHOENIX ONEILL

Phoenix O’Neill is a 23 year-old indie pop singer-songwriter based in Watford, North London. Last year, her amazing voice and her intricate, dark songs caught the interest of producer James Sanger, best known for his work with Dido, Keane, Siobhan Donaghy and Brian Eno. Since then, James has teamed up with Paul Kilmister to form ‘SangMister Music’ through which they have been developing Phoenix’ unique, haunting and hypnotic sound.

Phoenix’s spellbinding vocals have been compared to such talents as Amy Winehouse and Elle King, with eerie melodies similar to Massive Attack and Portishead. “Cruel World,” and “I Need You” her new single, is taken from her upcoming EP “Out of the Ashes” which is due fro release in April. It has drawn early comparisons to Lana Del Rey, Becky Hill and Lorde.

THE SHAMBLES

… by name and nature are a local five-piece playing largely pop-rock from the eighties, nineties and noughties. Formerly known as “DaddyShambles”, they ditched the “Daddy” when they recruited a “Mummy”, and have been performing here and there in St Albans over the past couple of years. With a line-up that includes Marlborough parents and a Marlborough sixth-former, the M-Fest is a bit of a homecoming. They promise to leave it tidy afterwards.

Revellers Steelband are a voluntary community group based in the UK Centre for Carnival Arts, Luton.

There tutor is Ian Beckles, a professional steelpan musician from Trinidad who arranges music and teaches traditional Caribbean methods.

We cannot wait to hear their authentic Caribbean tones as they open up our 2018 festival!
